The first-corner defence that secured control

Max Verstappen converted pole position into victory at Marina Bay, holding off a fast-starting Charles Leclerc as the Ferrari challenged into the opening corner. Once the Red Bull driver retained the lead, he gradually built a cushion while managing the soft-compound tyres. He remained in command through the pit-stop cycle and finished 7.335 seconds ahead of Leclerc.

A controlled drive through tyre strategy and radio trouble

Verstappen stopped on lap 33 and switched from soft to medium tyres without surrendering track position. Later radio difficulties forced Red Bull to use alternative communication methods, but the issue did not derail the victory. His winning time was 1:42:00.785. The result is his 73rd Formula 1 Grand Prix victory, achieved on his 250th Grand Prix start, and his first win at Singapore.

Leclerc delivers second as Hamilton fades to sixth

Leclerc secured second place for Ferrari after a race shaped by tyre management and the timing of pit stops. Lewis Hamilton, who qualified third, spent much of the race in podium contention but struggled for pace late on. Antonelli, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri all moved ahead as Hamilton fell to sixth. Ferrari still scored 26 Grand Prix points through Leclerc and Hamilton.

Post-race strategy confirmation: Hamilton said Ferrari called him into the pits under the Virtual Safety Car, but he missed the entry and elected to remain out on ageing soft tyres. The decision cost him three positions in the closing laps. Hamilton accepted responsibility for the gamble; team principal Fred Vasseur said the team had planned to pit both Ferraris. Leclerc finished second while Hamilton took sixth.

Antonelli takes third and extends his championship lead

Kimi Antonelli moved onto the podium in the closing stages and finished third for Mercedes. George Russell recovered from 19th on the starting grid to finish ninth, scoring two points. Antonelli now has 340 points to Russell’s 238, increasing his lead from 89 to 102. The Italian now has his first mathematical chance to secure the Drivers’ Championship at the United States Grand Prix on October 25.

Austin title watch: the exact clinching scenario

Antonelli has 340 points, Russell 238 and Hamilton 229 after Singapore. Formula 1 confirms that he can secure the title at Circuit of the Americas if he leaves Austin at least 125 points ahead of his nearest challenger, with five Grands Prix remaining. One decisive combination is Antonelli winning, Russell finishing ninth or lower, and Hamilton finishing fifth or lower. That would give Antonelli at least 365 points, a minimum 125-point margin over Russell and at least 126 over Hamilton. A victory alone would not guarantee the championship. The United States Grand Prix runs October 23–25 and is scheduled as a conventional, non-Sprint weekend.

McLaren gains points, but Red Bull closes the gap

Lando Norris finished fourth and Oscar Piastri fifth, giving McLaren 22 Grand Prix points after its difficult Singapore Sprint. Verstappen’s win and Isack Hadjar’s tenth place delivered 26 points for Red Bull. The Constructors’ Championship now shows McLaren third on 339 points and Red Bull fourth on 332 — a margin of only seven points. Mercedes leads with 578, ahead of Ferrari on 444.

Driver-form watch: Verstappen carries the momentum to Austin

Verstappen leaves Singapore with consecutive Grand Prix victories after his win at Sepang, plus the Singapore Sprint win and his 50th career Grand Prix pole. Antonelli’s third place consolidates his championship position despite the renewed Red Bull threat. Leclerc’s second place underlines Ferrari’s competitiveness, while Hamilton’s late decline and Russell’s recovery illustrate how differently the race unfolded for drivers starting near the front and back.

What comes next

Formula 1 returns for the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas on October 23–25. The next editorial priorities are any post-race stewards decisions, Mercedes’ Austin upgrade performance, and the newly defined title-clinch scenario. This report reflects Formula 1’s published race finishing order; any subsequent official classification amendments should be incorporated when confirmed.
