2026 Driver Form Watch: Norris Has Momentum, Antonelli Has Control
Recent results and championship position are telling different stories: Norris owns the newest winning streak, while Antonelli still owns the much stronger points position.

Lando Norris has won the last two Grands Prix, Hungary and the Netherlands. Kimi Antonelli, however, leads the championship by 59 points. Both statements can be true because form measures the recent window while the standings measure the entire season.
That distinction is why Paddock Command separates Form from Trends. Form asks who is currently converting results. Trends asks how those results are changing the cumulative championship.
Norris has created the strongest immediate signal
Back-to-back victories are a meaningful form marker because they show repeat conversion, not one isolated result. The next question is portability: can McLaren reproduce that effectiveness at Monza, where aerodynamic efficiency and braking dominate more than Zandvoort's corner-loading profile?
Antonelli's response does not require a win
A championship leader with a 59-point cushion can respond to a rival's win with second place and still retain strategic control. That means evaluating Antonelli solely through the number of recent wins can be misleading. A high-floor sequence of podiums may be more valuable to his title than aggressive attempts to match every rival victory.
Russell and Hamilton are the pressure pair
George Russell and Lewis Hamilton are tied on 183 points behind their teammate. For both, the problem is time as much as pace: matching Antonelli does not close the gap. They need weekends that create a net swing.
Why the next two rounds matter
Monza is followed immediately by Madrid. Two very different circuit demands in consecutive weekends can reveal whether recent momentum belongs to a driver/team combination broadly or only to a specific track profile.
